My credit card on file expires tomorrow (Dec. 28) and Ihave been trying to register the replacement card for 3 days and I keep getting the message that the "transaction can't be processed try again later". The credit card company says that the billing will automatically switch to the new card (number is the same, only expiry changed) but I don't want my service to be cancelled if the charges don't go through.

Looks like the credit card company was telling the truth. Have a transaction showing on my account so all should be good. Thanks

if possible, wait full 24 hours and try again using Incognito mode
But if the renewal is tonight, in couple more hours, you might want to buy voucher from stores like SDM/711/London drug/shell or buy online and then load the voucher using *611 to avoid service interruption
