I’ve read some posts regarding the switch from a 3G to 4G plan. I don’t stream much video. Will there be any other noticeable difference? How about browsing speed?
Any tech advice would be appreciated.
Thank you everyone 😘

My guess is that PM is unlikely to switch all the plans over to 4G speed until Koodo does. I believe right now Koodo still offer 3G plans along with 4G.

Fortunately, I don't really see Public Mobile as charging more for 4g itself any longer because they've pretty much have just included it now with the more expensive plans. The $40 and higher plans also happen to include more data.
For someone like me, who use very little data, just needs calling / texting...the PM Poverty plans are perfectly suitable. With the addition of the More is Merrier free data, I'm covered if I ever do need some additional data.
It would be interesting to know what the metrics on 4G plans vs 3G plan uptake is. I suspect 3G plans are still widely used.
I suspect that you're right that there's still a large 3g-plan customer base at Public Mobile. I don't believe that's an indication of any success or popularity of the slower speeds but only of the prices being lower. My arguement is largely that Public Mobile doesn't have to do this 3g tier because it doesn't cost them any more to offer the higher speeds. It also confuses customers and makes customers thinking about signing up that Public Mobile's data is slow.

@DDM69 I noticed a big change loading websites, Apple Music, etc. sometimes on sky train I’ve had a few minor buffering but speed test has confirmed that I have double or triple the speed. I hope this helps.

@DDM69 You won't notice a big difference in speed when loading contents like emails, websites or tweets. However, the higher speed on the 4G will help with loading videos so you won't come across any buffering issues. In general, high data contents like video will load quicker on 4G speed. If pricing makes sense and it's a no brainer, go for a 4G plan.
