Changing the amount of phone rings before voicemail not working

Margomes

I know it's been repeated many times but I thought I would ask if Samsung's S25 Ultra is problematic for doing this operation. The current rings to voicemail are just way too long (30 seconds). I tried all the phone dial codes on here. *61* etc.   While it does acknowledge after pressing send that the code was accepted, the rings still nonetheless show 30 seconds  when typing *#61# even though I've changed them to 25, 20, 15, 10 seconds.

Can anyone help with a solution or am I stuck with 30 seconds before it goes to voicemail.

Thank-you for any reply!

I have access to my aunts unlocked s22 fe that she uses with telus. By swapping sim cards/phones is there a way I could get past this obstacle? Obviously I don't want to screw up her voicemail settings.  what combination would likely give the best results? Puting my pm card in her s22 would be my guess...perhaps it would not make any difference

hi @sceptre

i think the key to number of ring before VM, conditional forwarding, no longer works

not sure if it is temporary issue and if PM will fix it

I have Samsung S21 Ultra. I too cannot get people to leave messages, so not limited to the S25 ultra. Restarted yes, July 2025.

Kindly leave a response if actually have something new to get the phone working. clearly this is not just entering the same code as other android users, for some reason this line of phones isn't taking the changes, despite saying it does.

Hi there,
Thank you for your reply!
I'm afraid it is standard and it is not controlled by the carrier. Unfortunately, we can't change it on our end.

Unfortunately, the information that you have been provided above isn't accurate.  The amount of rings before a call goes to voicemail is fully controlled by the carrier.  While there is a default setting, it is adjustable.

Yes, did the restart and still the same 30 second delay. (6 rings).

Remains at 30 seconds even after MMI code accepts 5, 10 or 15 second code.

Remains at 30 secondsRemains at 30 seconds

Call forwarding works the only problem is the amount of rings can't be modified. It's always 30 seconds no matter how I try to shorten secs with the MMI code accepted. 5,10,15,20.

They confirmed the following;

I've checked your device's IMEI, and it is VoLTE compatible. The VoLTE is automatically enabled on every compatible device, so on our end, we can't modify that if in case is not working properly.

So now I don't know what else to do.

Thank-you! I sent message to them asking as per your suggestion about VoLTE.

@Margomes

works or not depends if your Call Forwarding functions properly.  And phones that can use VoLTE will have Call Forwarding functions without problem.

Ask PM to confirm both you have Volte and you have Call Forward feature setup properly on the system.

Simply open ticket with PM using the Orange Chatbot icon on the lower right. (For 2FA  code when login, use email to receive code instead of SMS if you cannot receive the text on the phone.)    When open Chatbot ticket, Type the question Submit ticket and select Contact Us to get to ticket open screen

Just tested it. Does not work Accepts code and called myself with another phone. 6 rings as always. Thanks just the same for your help!

@Margomes don't click *#61# after

Just  *61*16475804001**20

Then just test voicemail by calling yourself from another phone

But if that does not work still , please open ticket with PM support

Tried it all, codes work tried 5, 10 15 and 20 but still shows 30 seconds afterwards when typing code *#61#

@Margomes

The number of rings is determined by the 'number of seconds to wait' before forwarding the call to your voicemail. Get your PM voicemail number from your Phone Dialer settings.

Dial this sequence: *61 *16475804001*11 *[then enter number of seconds to wait] # [SEND or CALL].

For the number of seconds to wait - choose from the following options:

  • one ring, enter 5.
  • two rings, enter 10.
  • three rings, enter 15.
  • four rings, enter 20.
  • five rings, enter 25.
  • six rings, enter 30 (This is the maximum number of rings/seconds).

SAMPLE: *61*16475804001*11*20# [SEND or CALL] - sets your phone to ring four times (20 seconds) before going to your voicemail. Best to check mailbox.
( also technically, dialing *61*16475804001*11*20# can be shortened to *61*16475804001**20# since voice service is assumed)

New member. I have a Samsung S25 Ultra and I cannot modify the rings before going to voicemail. It is now at 30 secs. People have told me they will not leave a message because it takes too long to get to voicemail. I tried every # combo shown in the forums and no dice. Tried 5, 10, 15, and even though it states the MMI code was accepted when I type *#61# it still shows 30 seconds. Yes I did restart the phone after to make sure.  So far It's either 30 secs or set it to Always forward in Call forwarding. That send the call immediately with no rings to voicemail. Has anyone found one that actually can change the amount of rings that would work?  Public mobile says problem is not at their end and Samsung says it's not at theirs? Any help appreciated!

Give it time, maybe tomorrow..

Thank-you for taking the time to reply! Unfortunately, even after restarting the phone it still shows 30secs for " Call Forwarding Voice, Data,Fax etc... all  at 30 seconds.

So for 1 ring it's 5, 2 rings 10 .. .

Did you restart phone after choosing options? The S25 should have no troubles performing this change.

*61*16475804001*11*30#[SEND or CALL] : for 6 times, 30 seconds
