Changing my phone - that I got from a Bell network user

Hello

What do I need to do to change from my old Samsung phone to a new phone my son in law gave me that was registered to the Bell Network (Samsung S5).

Do I need a new SIM Card? Does the phone need to be unlocked?

Thanks.

Hi @smooth161, welcome to the forums!

1) Ensure the phone is unlocked. If it is locked, the cheapest way to unlock it is most likely through Bell (but there are other options, as mentioned above)

2) Make sure the sim card is the right size. If not, you may need an adapter or a new sim card.

try cellunlocker.net...I had a locked Bell LG G3, and this service worked for me...cost about $10.  Or I'm sure Bell would do it for 10 times as much :).  Good luck

Hi @smooth161,

If the phone was not unlocked, you will have to do that before using a PM SIM card with it. If you already have a PM sim card, no need to purchase a new. Just un lock the phone and insert your PM sim card in if you have one. I hope that will help you.
