I've recently switched plans, which includes 100 Canada wide minutes but when I try and call a Canadian number it says I can't make long distance calls.

Log into your self serve account and check your usage. Also see if the 100 minutes are still showing as available in the overview page, because it's possible that you may have used them all. If you don't see 100 minutes there, then you've used them all up.
Remember minutes are rounded up so even a 20 second call will be counted as one minute, plus retrieving voicemail will also deduct from the 100 outgoing minutes in your plan.
You can purchase the 500 Canada wide minutes for $5 as an add-on to supplement your plan minutes. This won't expire and will stay in your account until it is depleted.

Make sure to dial 1 + area code

Try restarting phone with your new sim inside.
What does your self serve account status say?
Maybe try another phoneset to see if it's phone or your service
If it's service try reporting your phone lost then stolen then restart the phone again
If that didn't work maybe contact m
PS if it plays message that long distance charges may apply just ignore it next time put 1 before area code
