Cancelled service - Need reimbursement

Customer1984

Hi,

I am trying to get a hold of someone that can help me process my reimbursement. I left a message on the page when cancelling on July 21st but no one got back to me.

My phone was lost. I cancelled service on the day Public Mobile processed my payment for the next three months. I won't be using Public Mobile's services for the next three months and am looking for reimbursement for these prepaid fees. The total amount is $178.08. I can't seem to get a hold of anyone.

Thank you for the attention you put to my request,

E.

Im pretty sure I will cancel my subscription with public mobile before my next due date. nobody gets back to me and explain why did they charged me twice when I just started my subscription last Monday. They got juiced money from my credit card and put there as my credit. I also cancelled my autopay.. they might charge me double again next time. Well good luck for my 25 dollars cause I cannot get that anymore as they say in the community its not pro rated.

As above, I also know of no way of cancelling either than not paying (and waiting for account expiry/closure) or porting the number out.  If you haven't done one of those things, your service was never cancelled.  Unfortunately, if you didn't disable your AutoPay from within your self-serve account, the billing system worked just as it was designed.

Reporting a phone and sim card as lost/stolen does not cancel service.  It only makes it so that someone else who might find your phone and sim card can't use it.

If the moderators are unable or unwilling to provide a refund (you can definitely ask), there's still the option of purchasing a new phone and Public Mobile sim card and to continue using the service.

@ute1978 that, and technically there isn't actually a way to "cancel" your service.  You basically have two choices:  1) port the number out to another provider, which if you did it on the same day as your renewal, you would lose the entire 90 days of unused service without re-imbursement;  or 2) turn off autopay and wait for the plan to first get suspended at the end of the paid cycle and then wait 90 days for the account to become totally deactivated (cancelled).  I don't think either was done here.

@Customer1984 did you perhaps mean that you reported the SIM as lost/stolen the day of or before your renewal?  I don't think that prevents the renewal unfortunately, it just prevents the SIM from being able to use any services but your service remains active and would renew automatically.

Bottom line is that unless typically PM does not offer refunds or re-imbursement.  However, it's worth reaching out to the moderator team (if you haven't already) and politely asking if they can help.  They have sometimes made exceptions in the past, so it's worth asking.

Yes, there is some info missing in this thread. Did he/she cancel because he/she doesn't need the service anymore? Then that is bad news for reimbursement as Public Mobile does not reimburse for prepaid unused service.

So why not buy a new phone and just change the sim card number in your account to keep using the prepaid service?

I hate to be a bearer of bad news.  Public Mobile is a prepaid service.  They usually do not pro-rate their plans if cancelled earlier.
