Can voicemail be checked from a landline?

Hi,

With my previous provider, it was possible to call your phone number from another phone and then press pound # key following your voicemail PIN in order to retrieve your voicemails.

Is there a shortcut for Public Mobile? I suppose this applies only to the $15 plan since it doesn't have unlimited voice time.

Thanks

@keepasa

Yes, you can access your voicemail via a different phone.

You can also access your voicemail from a landline or any other phone line, by dialing your 10-digit phone number, selecting ‘Send’ or ‘Call’ and then pressing ‘*’ to skip the system greeting.

@Dunkman Thanks, Don't know why I didn't see it when searching the FAQ. LoL.  Have a great day!

Absolutely! And you should do it that way if you are on $15 plan where calling vmail counts as outgoing calls.

Ok thanks for all the help.  So am I correct to assume that calling and using the 611 will also count as outgoing minutes used?

@keepasa  611 is a free calls and not counted against  your voice bucket

@keepasa

Here is some more information about the limited minute plans.

Talk

Talk minutes are counted whenever you make on your phone. Talk time is calculated from the start of a call to when it is disconnected, and includes ring time and call routing. Total call time is always rounded up to the nearest minute. Please note that calls to voicemail and forwarding calls will use plan minutes.

Use Minutes

Doesn't Use Minutes

Making a call

Calling *611 (the IVR)

Making or receiving calls from 911

Retrieving voicemail messages

Using calling apps when connected to Wifi

Using call forwarding

You can also purchase the $5 Canada wide talk add on that offers 500 minutes. Unused minutes do roll over to next month. It is a very useful and reasonably priced add on for the limited talk plan.

@Dunkman  It seems also we can add that calling toll free numbers does not use your limited plan minutes, this has been voiced by several users in past.  Although it appears to be "unofficial" and can change.
