My daughter’s phone stopped reading her physical SIM card, it works in my phone. I have her on a pretty decent plan and I was wondering if I have to cancel that plan and get an eSIM with a new plan, new number or is it possible to transfer? I appreciate any advice.

Really simple solution, thank you! Slightly embarrassed that the thought of buying a new phone was the only way to go.

she can get a new cell, then download the Public Mobile app and log in to her account to buy a new esim; but it's going to be a free replacement esim. She'll still have her old plan and number.
If she needs a hard sim in her new cell...get a sim (Amazon has them for $5 with FAST shipping), then download the app to the new cell and log in to her account and Change Sim number to keep her old plan and number.

yes, you can easily change to eSIM and keep your phone number and your current plan
To buy new eSIM , first, download the app on your phone and login. If you have problem with receiving 2FA code, click "Didn't Receive code" or "Resend code" and choose either Send email or Send voice message
Once logged in, Click Account from the bottom, then click Purchase SIM Card and select eSIM.
Once it confirms your phone is eSIM compatible, click Pay $ and Install and follow the prompt to complete and purchase and install eSIM on your device
