$15 plan no longer offered?

jfetsch

I'm on the $15 plan and my fiancee wants to switch over too. We tried tonight but it says it is only available in Quebec. Has it been completely removed?

Edit : I've learned the plan hasn't disappeared, but public Mobile just won't accept my postal code for some reason. I don't get an error when I put in literally any other postal code, but my payment won't go through unless I use the one connected to my card.

Hopefully!

@jfetsch cool, and maybe the postal code no longer an issue next month, let's hope

Looking forward for your good news in 30 days 🙂

It's definitely not a bad option! We kinda needed to do it yesterday though because his current phone plan rolled over to another month today, so he may as well stick with what he has for another month. Maybe next month!

@jfetsch

so, support is willing to activate via voucher for you manually

honest, I think you should give it a try. Since your own account is using the card, I think you can put the credit card in after activation without issue.  Also, it is likely that adding/updating new account does not follow the same plan-postal code check, so  you should be able to add the card after the account is activated.    Worst case you can port out easily after a month. Go ahead and give it a try

He said he could activate it on his end, but we may need the vouchers every month so it just seems like an extra hassle that I don't think my fiancee would want to deal with.

@jfetsch the $15 credit is a voucher, but how can you activate the account now? No suggestiom from Support?

jfetsch
Good Citizen / Bon Citoyen

Not really. He said we could buy a $15 credit every month instead of actually having a credit card on file, but that seems like more work than it's worth.

@jfetsch was support able to sort it out in the end??

Maybe get a visa gift card and put in whatever AB postal code just to be able to proceed. Can you set the region province and then go to change subscription and select that $15 plan that shows up. The fact that another AB postal code works anyway is a mystery though. But the visa gift card doesn't really care about address. Then once all set up you can try to change to your normal card in the account and see if it still doesn't like it even though it works in another account. Go figure.

I also suggest waiting an hour from all this fiddling. It might be that you've caused a fraud lock anyway which would need support to clear. But start with the hour wait.

I have tried every province and it's definitely popped up when I'm sure I have Alberta selected. Even if input a Quebec or BC postal code in when AB is selected as my province, not of them work. I have also tried changing my location to every province. Same error every time.

Also when I put in a different Alberta postal code, it does work. Just not mine. ☹️

I get this on a non-mobile browser when I enter that postal code. If I enter a matching province then it doesn't pop this up. It looks like maybe you entered in to the sign up process and selected a different province. I think the wording is a bit out of sorts but it may hint at the problem. You could fish around for which province it thinks you came in on (I would suspect QC) and try a postal code from that province to see if the error does not show up.

It's a new-ish postal code. It's about 5 years old, but I agree it's weird since I had no issues signing up for my account less than a year ago. I'll open a ticket. Hopefully they can fix it.

@jfetsch

this is weird, given that you are using it to pay another account already

is that a new postal code?   maybe time to open ticket with support?

I just tried messing around with postal codes and I've discovered it just doesn't like mine. If I put in a random postal code in, the error disappears (but obviously wouldn't match my credit card so the payment won't go through.)

@jfetsch did you try browsing or play around subscribing plans on another province earlier?

jfetsch

This is already the second email we've tried ☹️

We originally tried it with my fiancees email, now these screenshots are from a new account I made with my email.

@jfetsch

if you don't mind, logout from where you are

use another NEW email address to register again

But start from this link: https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/ab/plans  (this is an AB link)

and the subscribe from that AB link and see if it helps

jfetsch

Yes. It says AB as location. Here's a screenshot of literally every step in the signup. Clearly says Alberta on the first pic.

@jfetsch  did you pick a Alberta plan?

So when I try to sign up, apparently it just doesn't like my postal code. It says it doesn't match my billing address, but I haven't even had a chance to add my address or credit card information yet. PM literally doesn't even have that information yet before the error pops up.

Tried with both website and app, also tried with 2 different names (not long) and credit cards with correct postal codes (one of the credit cards we tried is the same one I use for my public Mobile account, so there's no reason why it shouldn't be working).

@jfetsch

if you are not using the app to start the subscription process, please download PM app and start there

 Alsp, although the name and address do not get sent to credit card for payment,  a member confirmed that it could cause trouble with payment.  Please make sure name and address match those registered in the CC.  If the name is really long, try to shorten it using initials

Let us know how it turns out

We will be transferring a number, but haven't even gotten to that part yet. The postal code does match the credit card. Tried it with 2 different credit cards as well.

That postal code has to match the billing address of the credit card. Have you selected a phone number? Or are you transferring in a number?

jfetsch
Good Citizen / Bon Citoyen

Oh, that makes sense. It still doesn't let us continue when we put in our postal code for billing, even when location is set to AB though. ☹️

That's the footnote from this superscript

The $15 plan is available.

jfetsch
Good Citizen / Bon Citoyen

And yes, I clicked the links provided. When you click the plan and offer details, if you scroll to the bottom it will say Quebec only, even if another province is selected as your location.

Tried App on phone, chrome, chrome in incognito, Firefox, and a different computer altogether. And yes, we changed the location in the top right corner.

jfetsch

Hi, we have discovered all the plans say Quebec only. Not just the $15 plan. He can't sign up for anything.
