Porting out while keeping the account active

Hello,

I am planning to get Telus $60 for 10 GB plan and right now I am with $40 4 GB plan with public mobile. Is it possible to port my public mobile number to Telus and get a new number for public mobile (I want to use PM as home phone) while keeping PM account active?

Or what is the best way to move PM number to Telus and get a new number for PM while keeping the same golden plan ?

Thanks

Personally I'd go with telus as Bell will raise the price of that plan in 6months. This is what they did 2 years ago for the black friday deals.

Good idea. Confusion to go with Bell or Telus 😞

wow, thanks for the reply, how long do you think these whole process takes ? I guess the offers from Telus expires in next 3-4 days.

@mjagadeesh Why worry about the time? Take the Telus deal with any number, then go through the procedure suggested.

From my own experience, porting out a mobile service number takes 30 minutes. To create a second account on PM you need to buy a new sim. Some are sold at walmart, I suggest you buying it at Walmart instead of ordering from the internet to avoid delays.

Take care 😛

Yes this is doable.  The last time this question was asked and answered is provided in this link.

I believe this cannot be done, I may be wrong though. Public mobile is a pre paid service, meaning once you pay for a plan, the service is given to that specific number associated with your account. If you port out the number, that means you agree not to receive the service anymore.

I may be completely wrong, I recommend contacting the moderators to see if this is possible :

EDIT:

While searching around, I found this thread with a ''workaround'' to keep your account active with the same plan but with a different number.

Hope this helps,

Take care!
