Number porting is a 2 steps process:

Step 1.  PM set up your old number on your PM account.  Login to your account.  Select the [Plan and Add-Ons] tab.  Is your old number showing on the [Plan and Add-Ons] display?

If yes, PM has done its work to setup your old number for you to call out, send text and data.

If no, you should send a private message to moderator to investigate.  Moderator wait time is 2 - 3 days.

Step 2.  Now, you are waiting for your old provider to release you number to PM.  Not until your old provider release your number, all the incoming calls and texts will continue to go to your old provider.

Who it your old provider?

Are you porting a landline or VoIP number to PM?

If yes, it will take up to a week to port.

If you port from a mobile number, it may take up to 2 days to complete. You can continue to use your old SIM card until it stops working.  Then, start using PM SIM card.

Here is the CRTC's take on how long it could take for porting:

For mobile phones, it can take a few hours. For landline to mobile or mobile to landline, it typically takes up to 2 business days.

@AlexBeans94  Other customers have been reporting times of over 24 hours for their port to complete. As others have mentioned just use your old sim to make/receive calls and texts until the sim stops working. Once it stops working it means the port of complete then start using your PM sim.

@AlexBeans94

Cell phone usually takes an hour or less to port. Landline is much tougher and can take 48 hours (business days only, so if port starts Friday night it can go into Tues)

Usually Public says give them a day to make sure before you have any issues.

It can 2 hours for porting and you should receive a text when completed.

Here more info about porting.

Contact a moderator if it has been more then 2 hours.

@AlexBeans94 It can take a few hours for the port to go through. Try the SIM from your old provider, if it still works then the port hasn't gone through yet. If it doesn't work put in the Public Mobile SIM and restart your phone.

If it's still not working then there was likely a problem with the port and you will need to contact the moderators, you can send them a private message here: https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/notes/composepage/note-to-user-id/22437
