Hi Public Mobile Support,

What is the best thing to do in this situation?

Phone got wet and does not work any more dunno if Sim card works.

Should I just get a new unlocked phone and try my existing sim card with it?

Best Regards,

Much thanks for the quick reply.

I will pick up a new phone tomorrow and try the SIM card.

10 steps to saving your water damaged phone

Despite the article's optimistic title I would prepare for a new phone. Everyone I personally know who has dropped their phone in water has ended up with issues.

SIM card might still be ok - hard to say so you'd have to just test it. If your phone doesn't work properly and you get a new one and the SIM is not working you will need a new one - nothing PM can do about that - but you can set up the new SIM card in Self-Serve yourself (once/if you have it).

Fingers crossed for you though! 🙂

@kslao13, sorry about your bad luck.  Definitely try out the old SIM before spending money on a new SIM card.  It should work fine after a wetting.  My wife bathed her phone once.  The phone died of course but the SIM was totally fine.

Sorry to hear about your phone. SIM cards are pretty robust and well made and don't get water damage. It should still work after getting wet, just make sure it's completely dried before inserting it into a new phone to use.
