Niagara Falls Ontario Canada-Reception Issues

Michael77

Hi,

I have a friend on Public Mobile who went to Fallsview Casino the other day in Niagara Falls Ontario Canada (in province calling) and her phone showed that she was roaming and it didn't work. She got this text.
Public Mobile here. Welcome to USA! You can get a U.S. roaming add-on for as low as $10 for 10 days. Go to publicmobile.ca/selfserve for add-on options. If you no longer wish to hear about Public Mobile offers, visit bit.ly/1n8ObE2.

Her mom is with Bell and did not have any issues using her phone in the exact same location she was at.

I've heard of other people experiencing the same issue on Public Mobile. Please help fix this problem. She goes there a lot and will not be able to use her phone. This should not happen since she was still in her home province.

I have tagged the moderators on this issue.

Thank you.

Did your friend win there? I, for one, know a place where you can win for sure. Therefore, I recommend you conquestador casino website where you can not only break the score, but also have fun testing your luck in various online games!

Thank you. Yes, this makes sense. 🙂

@Michael77

Coverage comes from the base station equipment (i.e. "towers"). In Niagara Falls and most of Ontario, these are owned and operated by Bell, not Telus or Public Mobile. Bell allows Telus users to use these towers. Coverage is identical between Bell and Telus.

If there's a difference in coverage in the same location, it can be one of two things:

  1. The users are using 2 different phones with different RF performance
  2. Both users are at the very edge of coverage, and one of them happened to lose coverage momentarily, which resulted in selecting a roaming operator.

Unforunately Bell doesn't have indoor coverage at Fallsview, but Rogers does. So Rogers/Fido/Chatr users will have the best signal. Bell/Telus/Virgin/Koodo/Public Mobile users will have poor coverage, but their signal from the tower will be 100% identical.

Does that make sense?

The only piece of good news I can offer is that usually Bell will successfully negotiate using the indoor system that Rogers already has in place. I don't know when that will be, but hopefully you will see dramatic improvement some time in the future.

Thank you, shawnie_boy. I will have my friend automatically choose Public Mobile in her cellular settings. It's worth a try!

Thank you.

This happens with all carriers right at the border. If phone thinks USA carrier is stronger it will connect to it. To avoid this at the border you have to manually choose public mobile in cellular settings on phone and not choose automatic.

Hi sheytoon,

Thanks for your message.

Sorry, but I don't understand. If Public Mobile offers province-wide calling and Niagara Falls is in your province, shouldn't the area have reception? Oh by the way, it's not my friend's phone, her phone works fine. Her mother's phone is with Bell and she got reception in Niagara Falls.

Thanks.

Public Mobile has no control over this. It's a Bell coverage issue, or a phone issue.
