Want to get notified automatically of any new promotions? What about planned System Outages? Or follow ANY community area in this forum?
Don't want to deal with RSS technology? The following is a SIMPLE 3 step process.
Using 'RSS to e-mail' services instead. Here's how:
THAT'S IT! Now enjoy getting an e-mail anytime there is a new post! Never miss an one again!
EDIT: Actually, there is one more step... you should get a confirmation e-mail about your subscription. Be sure to click the link in the e-mail to confirm.
NOTE: You then will start getting notifications in your e-mail only when there are new posts.
If you ever want to stop the flow of notifications, there is an unsubscribe link in the e-mail you receive.
This technique can be used for ANY forum area. Just put in the URL for that specific feed.
P.S. You do not need to turn on the 'Subscribe to RSS Feed' feature of the PM Community forum. In fact, you do not even need an account for this forum to get notified! So ANYONE can get notified!
So why use this service at all?
A BIG SHOUT-OUT to @RobertQc for making me aware of this type of service.

Yes, you could use the built-in RSS subscription feature of this forum BUT if means learning and knowing how to deal with RSS and using another piece of software to do this. Chrome does not have a built-in RSS reader and Firefox just dropped support for a built-in RSS reader as of Nov 2018 with v64. If you really want to use a RSS reader, click to read the instructions on how to set up RSS feed. BUT the solution above is easier.
Solved! Go to Solution.
That's one way of using RSS feed. Here is another way that i have learned from @srlawren : https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Discussions/Brief-Guide-How-to-subscribe-to-a-communi...

Thanks @NDesai (and @ShawnC13 on the other, messy thread) for bringing up my alternate solution. To be completely honest, I doubt many community members here make use of an RSS reader, so getting these notifications by email as @RobertQc suggested and @pm-smayer97 detailed above is probably the better solution for most. A lot of people have asked for a way to be notified by email of new posts in the Announcements area, and this looks to be a great way to do so. So, thank you for writing this up @pm-smayer97! I hope it's helpful to many. If I wasn't already an RSS user (and overloaded with email notificaitons), I'd probably be using this teachnique as well. Cheers!

I actually do mention and link to @srlawren's solution at the end of my thread above for those truly interested in using an RSS Reader.
But as @srlawren even acknowledges, the RSS to e-mail is a simpler and more straightforward solution and probably more likely to get used.
@srlawren thanks for the acknowledgement :-)
I hope it benefits many; some have already applied this :-)
@pm-smayer97 I have to admit I only skimmed the other thread as I was late to the party and this thread alreasy existsed--but I get the sense the concern was more in the presentation/delivery than in the value of the content itself. In any event, let's focus on the value in this thread, which should be pretty high.

Yes, I understood the contention. I just felt it was over the top making a mountain out of a mole hill, especially as has been pointed out that the value is justified, and the rest is just inconsequential to me (if it were, my stats would be quite different). Anyway, moving on. Thanks again for the acknowledgment.
I tried it too, the free version only updates once per hour. It's good enough.
