@ShawnC13 Yes, I knew that. I was correcting @computergeek541 statement that “The data bonus is only lost after changing to a lower priced plan.”

It's still crazy to me that we have Oracles harassing members, and making snarky/passive aggressive comments, all while preaching that we should be respectful to each other.
But yeah, people are acting like PM is this amazing bastion of deals (mostly oracles), when in reality, without the legacy rewards, PM lags behind just about everyone. I've compared $34/$29 price points, and @RetiredGuy1 did the "1-2gb" plan comparisons. I think PM was almost objectively at the bottom of all of them.
I understand though, the Oracles gotta protect the company that's paying them, so it makes sense. They aren't going to find a $20 monthly discount with any other company, and that's massive (almost pays for ones entire phone bill), so they'll do what they gotta do to protect it, even if that means lying, or placing morals aside.

I understand PM's loophole of converting rewards to points. EXCEPT they are taking away autopay completely. None of the other old rewards (loyal, referrals etc) had anything to do with agreeing to taking money straight out of my account in exchange for those rewards. Thats my problem. Auto pay was different in that regard. It was the only reward that was agreed upon them taking money straight from my account for the reward.

I’m voting with wallet first , principle second and thirdly with pride . Pretty sure the grass is greener across the road anyways . Not like I’d have anything else to lose here other then snarky comments

you seem to make a lot of post on how Oracles censor and control this discussion and how we are working overtime in this thread to complete that task. If that was true every off topic post, or adverisement of other providers would have been removed
Maybe you've forgotten, but you already made this exact point, and I answered it. It's a silly premise.
As for working overtime, I don't think that is true as I have only been able to be in the thread at the end of the day to take a look at the daily posts.
You don't have to make an appearance to be "working overtime". We're constantly seeing messages get deleted/moved, especially during the night. Mods/oracles are just quietly controlling things, especially in the background. That being said, in my case, I was using this more in the slang sense, not in a literal sense, which means "they are using a lot of energy, effort, or enthusiasm trying to do it".
I think this thread has provided a lot of information on both sides and I hope it stays that way, but I also want it to stay on topic and most importantly stay respectful between community members
I think we're way past this. We have Oracles openly harassing members, we have Oracles like yourself lying in order to protect PM (still waiting on your response to that), we have Oracles going off topic themselves, then removing evidence of all their wrongdoings, etc. It's easy to pretend to want to take the high road when you're able to control what everyone sees.

@RetiredGuy1 , the $29 plan was also given 240GB of data that is why you kept it. If you had lowered it any further you would have had it removed.

But they arent giving any reward anymore for auto pay whatsoever so how would I be getting points? I understand they are basically giving points now for all the rewards except for auto pay, which they arent giving anything for it anymore. Thats where im getting confused. They are going to be making me autopay without giving me anything at all. Shouldn't PM be sending me a new electronic document to checkbox to say yes I agree to them auto renewing without giving me the $2 reward since they are just completely taking it away and not giving points either? Or else they arent holding up their end of the bargain and just taking my money.
04-19-2024 10:57 AM
So in my agreement with PM where I was offered the $2 off a month in exchange for allowing PM to auto renew my account(AKA allow them to take money straight from my bank account). What happens next month when they auto renew(which they will) and I don't receive the $2? Wont that be considered stealing from me?

The old reward is the reason to keep me with Public mobile, so after the switch most likely I will definitely look for another alternatives.

I think I got lucky and switched just before they changed it to the 10gb. Hoping for the 20gb for the last month.
04-19-2024 08:54 AM
@ATHENS - In the plans, everyone can change to the $29 10GB plan in My Account, no CS_Agent needed. Make sure to change on renewal also.
04-19-2024 08:48 AM
@Handy1 Yeah, I guess lucky is one way to describe it but its useless to me as it would take me about 8 years to use based on my data needs. I’ve yet decided but I’m leaning towards leaving in May anyway.
04-19-2024 08:44 AM
@RetiredGuy1 Then a lucky one to keep the 240GB . I wouldn’t let to many know that . Or they will find away to penalize you further then just your rewards . Cheers 🍻
04-19-2024 08:44 AM
Just so there is no misunderstanding, I was replying to @eyes and not you
04-19-2024 08:43 AM
@RetiredGuy1 - Nice to hear that downgrading from a $29+ plan to a $29 plan will not lose your bonus 240GB.
Also the $29 plan is the minimum requirements to receive 240GB.
04-19-2024 08:42 AM
I changed from a $34 plan to a $29 plan and kept the 240 GB bonus.
04-19-2024 06:27 AM
Looks like the move is rolling out now. In my account I no longer see accumulated rewards in "my payments" I have to click on the rewards tab.

@ATHENS wrote:On a side note I asked CS agent for an exception to the rule that if one changes plans the compensation data would be deleted. Cut and pasting the reply.
If you change your plan, regardless if it upgrade (higher value) or downgrade (lower value) you will lose the bonus data acorded for the switch to Public Points program.
The above isn't correct, and yes, I have changed my plan. The data bonus is only lost after changing to a lower pirced plan.

You can find the legal notes at the bottom of the page, "1" for example, states:
INTRO PRICES (1)
The monthly base price of your plan will remain unchanged unless you change your plan in your account. Applies to the base price of mobile plans identified as such. Excludes Add-ons, Travel Add-ons, out-of-plan charges and taxes.

I wouldn't bother with this user when it comes to this. I've done the same song and dance with them in the past, where they asked me for plans better than PM, and I literally laid them all out one by one, showing how PM's are far worse. They basically didn't respond, and continue to repeat the same lines over and over again. Pretty sure this is practically a copied/pasted response at this point, as I've seen it so many times. It's very similar to the response that the Oracles provide. Clearly disingenuous in my opinion.

There are some assumptions and inaccuracies in your post. Vidéotron began beta testing Fizz in 2018 in Quebec and in Ottawa and have since expanded. So, 6 years in existence isn’t new. Yes, they’re still not fully established and their coverage does not rival those of the Big 3 (yet) but agreements are in place to use those partner networks (Fizz EXT) which is explained on their website. PM made a commitment to keep legacy rewards (which they didn’t honour) but not the cost of their plans. Just because PM didn’t keep their word doesn’t necessarily mean Fizz won’t keep theirs. Thats just an assumption without any factual evidence. A user who stated thousands were leaving PM is, at this time, speculation as only PM/Telus insiders would know the numbers. Your statement that “most of us” will stick with PM is also an assumption (and speculation as well).

@jtennyuk - I already recommended one to No Name Mobile.
04-18-2024 06:09 PM
I have some friends who need low cost plans, and normally I'd recommend PM, but like you said, they're no longer competitive. Thanks for listing these options, will pass them along!
04-18-2024 05:52 PM
@EdN - I don't like getting screwed over, and look at PC & No name mobile:
Freedom is basically what is keeping us at a steady price. IF NO FREEDOM MOBILE = $65 for 75GB & $50 for 50GB.

Came across this on RFD something to think about
I've lost referrals in the past 3 weeks due to Public Mobile's "commitment to continuously evolve our products and services".
Evolving doesn't mean better. Notice PM didn't say improving.
If so good why is everyone leaving?
Two answers:
1) People don't like getting screwed over
2) Public Mobile plans are not competitive.
I can no longer recommend Public Mobile to friends and family when there are so many better 3rd tier options out there (looking out for the light data users <$30/month, YMMV)

The move to this new "improved" rewards program ensures a stable subscriber base looks for alternatives, which contradicts a fundamental marketing principle.
I applaud the efforts of others over the past few weeks who pointed out worthy alternatives.
