I just so happened to activate my shiny new SIM on Dec 18th... but as a brand new Public Mobile customer, I didn't know to look for promos first... honestly, I was really motivated to get off my old Rogers plan.

I did see this promotion and registered for it after the fact... and am curious if I am going to still qualify.  I got an email today reminding me I'm eligible and to activate a plan... but I've already done that on Dec 18th.

Congrats! Your email was received and is eligible for our limited time flash sale.

Get your second month of service for $0 when you activate on any plan, online and in-store.* Don’t miss out on this great deal!

Activate by January 8th.

Am I good to go, or did I miss this promo based on order of operations?  Installed/activated new SIM while setting up my account... then signed up for flash sale.

On the homepage, Public Mobile is referring to it as "Boxing Week savings".

Is it black tuesday or something?

This offer has become interesting after today's improvement.  $25 higher plan new account activation in conjunction with this offer will also also receive a one time bonus 5GB (plan cannot be changed or the data bonus will be lost).

@computergeek541

Thanks for the update but maybe @Catherine_T  can include some dates in the original announcement. Other than the date edited there is no indication of start or end of the promotion. Or even that it has been extended?!!. Maybe in bold with green or red? And a santa emoji?

In case not everyone noticed the change to the first post, this offer has been extended.  Register for offer at https://publicmobile.ca/en/on/fs2020 and then activate the new account ( online or in-store) using the same e-mail address by January 15 11:59pm EST.

I completely agree - PM is not for everyone but I'm so glad I found it because it's definitely for me!  I was with Rogers forever and finally switched to Freedom back when it was still Wind.  I lived in Toronto so it was great - unlimited everything at a much cheaper price.  Then I moved out of the city and had to switch back to Rogers due to limited Freedom coverage.  When my daughter moved out if the city this year, I was helping her find the best plan to switch to and we came across PM.  Now both my daughters, my son, my wife, and I are all on PM!  Loving it so far and will definitely be spreading the word!

@Lanark

Yes it is an interesting place here. There is lots to complain about if that is how you approach things. But there is lots to praise PM for as well in comparison to other providers. Let’s face it, all cell service is coming from huge companies with budgets in the billions. Some criticize PM for not fixing little glitches that annoy people regularly but I understand them not fixing everything here. Yes some things should be fixed but some of the glitches are here “on purpose” as they can’t have all customers cut their bills in half by moving to PM and still continue to provide the same network quality and advancements. PM works best for those of us who understand its place in the Big Cell Provider Scheme!

Rogers does not leave you with a sweet taste in your mouth. I'm happy to hear you escaped unscathed. You'll be happy here. Hang out here and learn all about public mobile and your service. There's little quirks, the odd bug and occasional glitch but if you know about them they are easy to deal with. Welcome to public mobile. And welcome to the community. We are always happy to help.

I signed up with Public Mobile during this flash sale as I was ready with a new sim Card from Canadian Cell Supplies.

Creating a new account went smoothly as I had all my required info ready to input.

I was ported over within an hour and everything is working great !

Goodbye Rogers I gave you a chance but you offered nothing so I’m here at Public Mobile.

Yes, we proceeded through the flash offer on the website to get offer then entered an email and was offered the option to proceed to sign up and did so.  Hopefully it's all set.

How can one verify within a newly opened account on this offer, that that second month is indeed tracking as 'free'.

You can't. Systems are set up to keep track and fulfill these offers. So if you do not get the credits in time, you reach out to support moderators for help.

Did you submit your email and then receive the confirmation to go ahead and activate?

Eligible customers will be credited the 30-day rate plan amount within 30 business days. These credits will count towards your next plan renewal.

If you do not receive the credit within 30 days in self service contact a moderator by choosing the chat bubble in the lower right hand corner.

 Did they try to enter their email for the new promo? I would say its worth pleading an error upon activation and adding $10 to the account balance and ask to be bumped up to the originally intended activation $35 plan with credit or a credit for the $25 plan as a good will gesture. It is Christmas after all.

I was dealing with a moderator about something else so I ran the scenario by her just to see if they ever make small adjustments. I got what is likely the stock copy and paste response to most similar enquiries but bottom line was “Sorry, we can not fix that after the fact”. Potentially if I continued to push they may do something to get rid of me but I regularly advise people here that if you don't do your homework (research) and sign up in the correct time frame meeting the promotions rules then you dont get the promotion.

In this case his email was registered properly for the Dec 11-14 Flash Sale and activation was done Thursday evening Dec 17 but only on the $25 plan. Hours later the Dec 18-21 Flash Sale was launched allowing activation on any plan. So he tripped over the $35 plan requirement and fell right under the Bus with the Public Mobile Dec 18 - 21 Flash Sale advertisement on the side of it!

I was hoping your renewal date would come up as the 17th of january meaning you squeaked in your activation past midnight.

Registering for an offer after you have activated your service isn't how it works. I do see that you activated, based on your other message, on December 17th. Sorry, but activations from December 17 aren't eligible for this promotion.

@fricstix wrote:

My payment says it due on the 16th even though I signed up after that.

This would be January 16.  This means that you signed up on December 17. Plans are 30 days in length, not a month.

Hey was that the same guy we talked about?

Yes it was! I have managed to get three referrals in the last 3 weeks or so after a LONG Dry Spell. There have been Flash Sales close enough to all three of these new activations but only that one wanted to bother going with the $35 plan together the second month free. Of course the third of three activated on the $25 plan Thursday evening and Friday mornings New Flash Sale allows new customers to qualify on any plan.

AE_Collector

@Pipcan

Generally you will see the second "month" credit added to your account 5 business dsys after the end of the promotional activation period. In your case you should see a $35 credit added on Christmas eve or the following Tuesday. Once added you can go to your plans and add ons page in your account and schedule a plan change to the $25 plan. Choose the "change on next renewal" option and it will automatically change on your renewal night.

If you change your mind you can cancel it and switch to whatever suits your needs. Regardless you will have an account credit of $35(promo)+$10(referred by a friend credit)+$4($2+$2 autopay)=$49

If you downgrade to the $15 plan your next 3 renewals will be covered plus enough for the $5/500min add on to supplement the 100 outgoing minutes. Or it covers your next two renewals on the $25 plan.

@AE_Collector

Hey was that the same guy we talked about?

One successful referral I had on the Dec 11-14 Flash Sale saw the credit in his account the next day. $35 credit for this promo, $10 referral credit and $2 Autopay credit totalling $47. He activated at London Drugs and while he had to pay the $10 SIM card cost they apparently still had the $20 Airtime Credit sale (LD Only) so he got a voucher to load to his account for another $20. A happy New Customer!

You'll get it - if you followed the instructions correctly to be eligible and then activate.

Acknowledgement doesn't seem to be a strong suit with Public Mobile - your lucky to get a confirmation page to know you've entered something. (but even the confirmation page doesn't display the e-mail address or other entry information for one to screenshot.... hmmm)

And to be clear, you get the second 30-days free.

 @Pipcan : you should see it credited to your account before your first renewal
