to keep in contact with fam and friends back home....use WhatsApp. You and those family and friends must download the free WhatsApp. When you get to Europe or wherever, you'll be able to freely message and talk using local wifi or separately purchased data. Here's a link to travel data esim; airlo...used by many Cdn travellers...

You'll be able to use the data to send / rec calls and texts using WhatsApp, whilst you're away.

You will need to purchase a local SIM in Europe. No roaming in Europe on PM.
The other option is to download the TextNow app and pick a secondary number and you can use it for calling and texting when connected to wifi or to the data on the local SIM.

Short answer: No — Public Mobile doesn't offer any service options for Europe.

Public Mobile's only available roaming add-ons cover the US (and some plans also include service in Canada/US/Mexico).

What you can do instead:

🤳 Set up an eSIM option: If your phone supports eSIM, find a provider with the data or data/voice package that works best for you. esimdb.com is a great resource to compare available options that you can activate before you arrive.
📲 Get a local physical SIM: Once you arrive, pick up a prepaid SIM from a local carrier (available at airports, convenience stores, or carrier shops in most European countries). You'll get a local phone number with data, and usually calls/text, at local rates — just make sure your phone is unlocked first.

Important tips:

☎️ Forward your Public Mobile number: Before leaving Canada, set up call forwarding to a VoIP app like Fongo or TextNow so you don't miss calls to your number while you're away. Note: SMS text messages will NOT be forwarded.
🔐 Switch 2FA to an authenticator app: While using another SIM outside, you won't receive SMS text messages. If your bank and others support 2FA authenticator apps, switch to them to avoid getting locked out of accounts that text you a login code.
