Thanks so much this worked. Both phones working now. The agent had no idea and was escalating to back office! A whole day spent for nothing

I have an iPhone 16 and 17. The phones both drop the call after 2 rings and won’t go to voicemail. The agent says the 17 phone is not compatible with VoLTE.

He checked and said the 16 is working fine but it’s not. What should I do as they were both working fine until now? Anyone else with the same problem?

If your phone only rings twice and cuts off without sending the caller to your voicemail, you are likely dealing with one of two very specific issues: an Apple iOS Live Voicemail conflict or a corrupted network call-forwarding delay.

Apple introduces a feature called Live Voicemail which attempts to intercept the phone call right at your device level to transcribe the caller's voice on-screen in real time. On Public Mobile/Telus, this feature frequently glitches out, tricks the network into thinking the call was rejected, and cuts the call off after 10 seconds (exactly two rings) without sending it to your carrier mailbox.

On both iPhones, go to Settings > Phone. Scroll down and tap on Live Voicemail. Toggle the switch to OFF. Test a phone call from an outside line to see if it now rings fully and rolls into your Public Mobile voicemail.

If turning off Live Voicemail doesn't fix it, your line's network routing flags have become corrupted. Public Mobile uses MMI (Man-Machine Interface) dialer codes to tell the cell towers how many seconds to wait before pushing an unanswered call to the voicemail server.

Let's force a complete network wipe and manual reset using your phone's dialer pad. Open the native Phone app on your iPhone and go to the keypad. Dial ##004# and press the green Call button. (This completely wipes out all custom and stuck call-forwarding rules on the Public Mobile tower server). Next, check what your actual Public Mobile voicemail deposit routing number is by dialing *#61# and pressing Call. A screen will flash showing a phone number (it often looks like +16475804001 or similar, depending on your region). Write this number down. Now, manually set your ring time to the maximum allowance of 30 seconds (about 6 full rings) by typing this exact sequence into your dialer, {*61*}[YourVoicemailNumber]{**30#}

(For example, if the number from step 3 was 16475804001, you would type: 61*1647580400130# and hit Call).

The screen should pop up saying "Setting Registration Succeeded." Restart your phone, and your incoming calls will now ring for a full 30 seconds before transferring cleanly over to your Public Mobile voicemail inbox.
