which city are you in?

it is not uncommon that your IP location is different from your current location. (not just mobile internet, home internet has same issue) The IP only shows the network centre your data traffic routed out from.

some smarter app will actually use your GPS to determine your location rather than IP

Geolocation of IP is generally done by 3rd party databases/services. They are known not to be totally correct. It's more of an educated guess than factual information.

this is untrue. The location of the IP is NOT GPS base. The data is routed through Telus central internet gateway from a city close to your current location, and your IP location would be based on that central internet gateway.

Also, the web and app does not actually track your real position via IP, they only lookup IP in databases, and the databases map IP ranges to registered ISP locations or data centres.

IP location is from a different province is also possible. For the longest time, the subscribers from maritime provinces only have a Quebec IP because Telus and Bell route all the east coast maritime traffice via Quebec

PM has some data issue this week, hence the traffic could be routed differently this week. That can explain why you saw IP from a nearby city before but seeing your IP from "entire different province " now

In short, your traffic was NOT "hacked and frauded" and no concern at all
