I'm currently on a 1GB 4G $19/mth plan and i got an offer from 5474 via text for 3GB 4G $19... so the offer is upgrading my data limit for the same price.

Nothing comes for free these days.

There must be a catch?

Whenever you switch plans, do you lose any Holiday bonus addons you've received?

I can't help but feel like they want me to switch to trigger some bad news side effect trap...

I know what you mean.

No catch for this one.

However, keep on mind that they do reserve the right to increase the price at anytime, usually giving you 30 days notice.

But, for now I wouldn't worry about it. Just accept it, it's a good thing.

Adding, no you won't lose your holiday bonus. They go with your account, not plan. You can switch plans anytime without affecting your bonuses.

Many got offers from PM today

No catch. Take it if you want. Special offer like this usually wont see any price change for some time. So, take it if you like

But with my current $19 plan, they've never changed it in many years. Is that the catch, that I have a plan that they cannot raise the price on but with the new one they can?

@pgl1 we are just customers here and we don't know exactly what PM will do. And , all providers have right to increase price with sufficient notice, they can price increase with any plan, hard to guess which one they will raise price next

But generally, they won't offer you a plan and increase price shortly after. Ans staying with your current plan does not mean they will keep the price for many years either. So, there is always a chance for PM to increase price, then why not choose a plan with more data but same price as before

That's a great question.

I'm in the same boat as you with the same question which was why I mentioned it.

I had the $15 plan that was increased to $18 recently. I'm wondering if I changing to this new plan will result in a price increase in 6 months 🤔.

But, we don't know the answer, so take it while you can.

Offering more data for the same price does not make sense.

Businesses don't do this.

I've had the same $19 plan for many years and the price has never increased so Iogic tells me that it MUST be a lure to get me to bite and this trigger something... like allowing them to then sent you another text in a few months that the plan price is increasing...

I've never had much success trying to guess what corporate Canada will do next. IMO...if you find the deal fits your budget and benefits your lifestyle, I'd suggest you take the deal. You get more data at same price you're currently paying. I took that deal when offered last month.

you didn't own $19-1GB plan for too "many years", it was just introduced in May 2024.

And "more data for the same price' actually makes sense and businesses have been doing it

mobile data is dropping in price. $25 only got you 1GB around as close as 3.5 years ago, now $25 will get you 10GB or as much as 20GB when there are deals. With your 1GB plan that you got in May 2024, PM actually offered the same 1GB plan for $18 to some customers back in Sept 2025. So, that is any reason why PM is offering you more data for the same price
