Changing a SIM card to eSIM

Hello, I am a public mobile customer and I bought a new phone wich it works with ESIM only, how can I get an eSIM version of my current phone number . Do I have to pay in order to switch to eSIM with my current phone number. How can I get this eSIM? What is the steps to take?

Hi,

To switch to eSIM, you need to download the Public Mobile app to your new phone.

Go to the Account section and click on purchase SIM card, then navigate ti purchase eSIM.

Pay the $5.00 plus taxes and it will retain your current phone number.

Esim is free if it’s a replacement esim. In this case, customer will end up paying for it as he’s buying a new esim to replace his old hard sim.

Good to know. Thanks. I would NEVER use eSIM if I can help it. So unreliable and inflexible.

@Yummy Never say Never. iPhone is now eSIM only. It is just a matter of time Samsung and other Android players will follow. It is possible that one day you will be using eSIM as well

in terms of Reliability, there is no difference. eSIM works as well as a physical sim. In fact, it could be better. Physical sim card could have problem with "physical contact", and there is no such issue with eSIM as it is part of the "circuit"

in terms in Flexibility, you are probably thinking you cannot move the eSIM between phones like physical sim. Yes, this is the Cons. But the Pros is eSIM is free replacement (every 15+ days). With physical sim, you will need to pay for a new physical sim if it ever breaks, PM usually won't reimburse.
Also, in some situation, like sim locked requiring PUK, you can simply give up the old eSIM and get a new one for free (simply get a new eSIM using the app). So, there are Pros and Cons in terms for Flexibility
