The plan names '4G' and '5G' are just names, they only affect the speed limit of the plan. The network you connect to is exactly the same, the same reception, the same coverage, even if you have a really old '3G' speed plan, you can connect to the 3G/4G and 5G network. Only the maximum speed you can obtain changes.

Hello, I'm currently on a $30 4G plan (CAN-USA) with 20GB of data. I see in my account that there is a $30 5G plan (CAN-USA-MEX) with 30GB of data. I know that 4G is more than enough speed at 100mbps and it depends on your location. My question is, if I switch to this new 5G plan, would the reception/coverage be better or maybe even worst? I find that sometimes my reception is spotty using 4G and internet is slow.

Any thoughts?

You can still use the 4G setting in your phone or change it to 5G that part dosent matter except you have faster internet and more data for same price so it’s a win/win
