It’s incredibly frustrating when a simple software update knocks out your service—especially since Public Mobile is a self-serve carrier without a storefront to walk into. This is a known issue where Pixel updates can sometimes "de-provision" or glitch the eSIM profile.

Before you buy a new eSIM, try these steps in order.

1. The "SIM Manager" Refresh
Sometimes the update just toggled the eSIM off or got it stuck in a "provisioning" loop.

Go to Settings > Network & internet > SIMs.

Tap on your Public Mobile line.

Toggle Use SIM to Off, wait 30 seconds, and toggle it back On.

If you see an old SIM (like from your previous carrier) still listed there, disable it entirely.

There is a specific workaround for Pixels where the eSIM chip becomes unresponsive after an update:

Go to Settings > System > Repair Mode.

Enter Repair Mode (this is a safe environment that doesn't wipe your data).

While in Repair Mode, check if the eSIM connects.

Exit Repair Mode. Surprisingly, this often "wakes up" the eSIM partition for the main OS.

If none of this works, contacting Google may be a last resort.
