I am being called on a daily basis by telephone scammers. This is driving me crazy these numbers I am getting are quite often 226 area codes and other area codes that I do not recognize. Why can't they be blocked??

I am going to assume you have an Android? You may wish to look for apps that can block spam callers.

Recently, iPhone incorperated Call Control into it's phones. It's been amazing. I haven't had one spam call since. May want to consider upgrading to an iPhone if that's a possiblity.

Let it go to voicemail. If it's a legit call, you can call them back if you wish. Once the bad guys know you'll answer all calls...well, you know what happens.

The “Screen Unknown Callers” feature on iPhones with iOS 26 is super useful. With that on I get very view spam calls and I used to get multiple per day.

For the texts you can block them by typing #STOP but the scammers will spoof a different number to hide their number.
