I am going to Mexico for a week. Will my phone work without an add on. My last provider just charged me on return to Canada or do I need to add Mexico for a week ? I might not even use it around the pool but might need it in an emergency.

If you don’t have the Canada/USA/Mexico plan then your phone will not work in Mexico. Since PM is a prepaid service…you pay first before you get service based on your plan.

You can use TextNow app to make calls or texts when connected to hotel wifi.

You can also use WhatsApp if all your family and friends have this app.

@williamceriharr You will need to buy travel sim and use something like TextNow or other similar app. Barring that you would need to rely on free wifi with those apps.

You can purchase the add-on if you think the free wifi for data only will not be enough, especially since you won't be able to receive calls.

But I would stress that you do not change your current plan to the Mexico plan as 1 your phone might not work there anyway.

And 2, when you get back, it is a guarantee that you will not be able to get back your current plan. Many have made that mistake.

@Sansan @williamceriharr There is no add on to purchase for Mexico coverage.
