Posting my experience in case it helps others.

I signed up for the current Public Mobile promo via the app, paid, and got the eSIM popup.

I installed the eSIM from the app, but on my iPhone it was silently added as a new line labelled “Business” (I didn’t notice this at first).

I replied YES to the Rogers port‑out SMS.

I then received the Public Mobile SMS telling me the number transfer was complete and to restart my phone.

I restarted, but my phone showed SOS only and I had no service.

I waited for CS to reply, but before they did I checked my iPhone network settings and saw that a new eSIM line was already there, just not active.

I simply activated that new eSIM line (the one labelled “Business”) and everything started working immediately – calls, texts, data, all good.

Phone: iPhone 17 Pro

So if anyone is stuck in SOS after porting and using eSIM on an iPhone, go to:

Settings - Cellular - check for a new eSIM/line (often named “Business” or similar) - turn it on / set it as the line for voice, data, and SMS.

Did you receive a response from support?

If so, I am shocked.

3 days now I am in the queue for a response to a service failure level issue.
