Hey Jake, great point. It definitely becomes frustrating, even as a loyal repeat customer, to not receive or be able to participate in attractive offers such as this. In my opinion, it encourages loyal customers to leave Public Mobile and accept a more attractive offer from another company, and then later on switch back to Public Mobile if they offer a more competitive offer for “new customers” again. Such a promo structure encourages customers to jump from one company to another to get the best deals as a mobile customer.

I have been a customer for two weeks (at $35 for 20Gb) and now I see PM dropped a new promo for $20 for 60Gb. Seems disappointing to say the least if I cannot take advantage of it? Any thoughts?

No you cannot take advantage of 'new promo'. Only way to do so is to open a brand NEW account and forfeit your current one and current phone number.
you would need to start from the scratch...

Or port out and then back. It's a bit of a hassle, but you could probably do it for a one time $10 charge.

The best times to change plans are around black Friday, Xmas, boxing day etc. Periodically check in between and sometimes they do have better plans for current subscribers. But mostly its all new ones

I like this idea. $10 to port out and back in is peanuts compared to $180 annual difference from my current plan. Not quite sure how to do it though without causing myself some issues. Feel free to DM me.

Sign up for a new PM account with a new number first. Make sure you can get the plan you want. Then go activate a service with a cheap prepaid provider. I did a quick search and you can get a free esim and a $16 plan with Fizz. You may be able to find cheaper if you spend some time to look around. Port your Public Mobile number to the prepaid provider, and then once the port is complete you can port it back to the new account you created with Public Mobile by doing a number change.

Keep in mind you'll lose any reward points you current have accumulated with Public Mobile. Also the new Public Mobile account will need a different email address.

Can't you
1- Open a new Account
2- Transfer your phone number to the new account
3- Close the old account?

With the 10$ 1 time credit and the plan being 20$ that would only cost 10$+tx to migrate your phone number to a new plan.
You would lose the Points, but it might not be worth if you've been a customer for only 2 weeks like OP or 48h like me...

Well, I just tested it, and you CANNOT transfer a PM number from one account to another.

You will need an account with another provider (one that support eSIM will be obviously faster).

I tried with Fizz but I'm still waiting on the SMS to initiate the transfer almost 1h after creating the account and requesting the transfer. So far I'm less then impress by PM...

To be more specific, I signed up during the year-end holiday, assuming I was getting a Black Ftiday or similar type deal. Only two weeks later, my so called deal suddenly looked like more of a rip off when new subscribers got almost half the price for 3x the data plan. This is not good marketing and very poor customer loyalty building.
