An iPhone 7 would work at Public Mobile for now, but I wouldn't expect reliable voice service. You'll want a new device that can be used on Public Mobile's VoLTE service.

Any iPhone released after the iPhone 6 should work on PM's VoLTE network just fine, as long as you have reliable LTE service

That isn't correct. Public Mobile requires a newer model than that as VoLTE on a model such as an iPhone 6 doesn't work at Public Mobile.
