How does one listen or go to voice mail, is the a number or task one needs to use?

press ans hold 1 and it should work

If it does not call VM, click Reset Network Settings and it should program the Long Press 1 for calling VM

these are the voice mail Access number.

you can go to the phone app, click settings, and add the voicemail number there
