Wait for a list of available carriers to appear, then tap the one you want to connect to. (test all 3 US network, AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile)

If you don't see those option , try Reset Network Settings first and check again

To reset your iPhone's network settings, go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings

Thanks for the reply. Before I Reset Network Setting, is it possible that my account was mistakingly set up not to have US data? I got a text that said I needed to buy roaming, but in the manage subscription section of the app, it does indicate I have 50 gigs of data for Canada US in Mexico
