Can I send texts or make calls in Mexico or do I need an add on?

only way to use text and calls in Mexico is to get the Canada-US-Mexico plan. If you don't have it, there is no Mexico roaming addon to buy , so you won't be able to use talk text without the plan.

But don't get the Canada-US-Mexico plan just for the trip, you can't change it back to your current plan after

PM only provides roaming service for those on Can/US/Mex plan. If you are not on the plan, you cannot send text or make calls there

only workaround is to use iMessage/Facetime or RCS on Wifi there
