I have the can mex us plan ,when I am in mexico do I need to change my settings to use my phone

You will need to enable Roaming so it will connect the PM partners while in Mexico.

most likely not

but you need to make sure you have Roaming Mobile Data turned on

also, make sure you connect to Telcel or AT&T, if not and you have trouble using the phone, try manual connect to those networks and try changing network mode to 4G or LTE

to call a Cdn number while in Mexico use +1, area code, number. Others have success using *1, area code, number.
