Tablet will not recognise SIM card

Purchased an off shore tablet with 2 SIM card slots. Niether slot will recognise the card. Has anyone had this issue.

it is unlocked

Iguess my off shore reference is misleading as all manufactures would be.

It is a chinese supplier with model #S106T_MT6735_35U_M

Based on the specs provided by the above selling site, this tablet is not compatibel with any of Public Mobile's 3g network. I realize that 3g is only required for voice and that data services would work on the LTE network if the device is compatible, but the above seller doesn't mention which LTE frequencies that this tablet is compatible with. But since you can't connnect, it's a pretty safe be that this tablet is just not compatible.

You should be able to use this tablet on Rogers' 2g netowrk, atlhough I'm sure you probably wouldn't want to because of the lack of speed. Otherwise, this tablet will be limited to getting an internet connecting through Wi-Fi.

For 3g, I saw on the previous site, only compatibility with 2100MHz (Band I), which isn't used at all in Canada.

As for LTE, the site you post says "This tablet supports 4G 1,3,5,7,8,28,38,39,40,41". Assuming that information is accurate, you might be able to to get service on LTE Band 5 (850) and Band 7 (2600MHz). However, I rarely see Band 5 being used when I check my phone and Band 7 isn't going to have the strongest signal.

In short, this tablet is not a good choice for use on Public Mobile, even if Band 5 and 7 LTE work on it.

Most frequency bands used in Asia (the main market these tablets are built for) work in Europe. North America however has it's own preferred set of LTE bands (see link in @Luddite's reply above) - a device can be LTE compatible for the European and Asian frequencies but lack the ones that you'll actually need to operate it here.

I have ordered "Asian" phones before and for a while looked into network compatible tablets (as opposed to WiFi only). For me the supposed bargains have turned out to be a waste of my time and money (not so much frequency wise but specs, OS, life span etc )

Unless I find the actual frequencies in the specs, have a model number that shows up on https://willmyphonework.net/ or, in a pinch, I'm looking at device that clearly states "American version"... I'm not even thinking about ordering.
