Go into your settings, find the network settings and reset them. Then reboot. This should resolve it. Also check the app to see how much data you have left to confirm.

Why would anybody need to reset network setting if nobody fooled around with them?
If your home internet is suddenly not working, are you going to reset your modem/router/etc. (to get to factory default) or try to determine WHY it is not working?

I would suggest simple hard reboot (turn off, wait, turn on) as I guess very few people ever turn phones off.

I understand the OP only used WiFi while on their vacation, we don't know what other factors occured. While on the hotels WiFi network, was there a software or firmware update to their phone, did they download something that could have affected it, being on an open WiFi network without the use of a VPN can sometimes be unsafe and an open source for hackers. Doing a reset of the Network Settings is just one of many things to try to pinpoint the cause of the issues their having and may or may not work. But usually forcing the phone to reconnect itself to the network can resolve connections.
