@GilbertParadis

functional wise, they are same. There is no difference as to reception. Just different pros and cons depends on your situation

Physical sim : easy to swap between phones. But if you need one, you need to find a store to buy it or order online and wait for shipment.
And most phones has only single sim slot, although some has dual physical sim slots but it is not common. If you travel and you need a local physical sim, you will need to take your regular sim card out and make sure you don't loss it

eSIM: not every phone has it, only newer phone has it and most entry level phones do not.
eSIM is built-in on the phone, so you don't have to go out and buy. But if you need to change phone, you will need to download the PM app and "re-buy" another esim with the app (although PM would reimburse the cost)
Travel eSIMs are very common now, it is easy to get one for travel or short term use. Most phones can store multiple eSIM profiles, you just have to switch it to the one you want as primary without deleting old eSIM profiles. This allow you to enable and disable any eSIM as needed

But generally, if you are unsure of how eSIM work, I would suggest to stay with physical sim
