what app you are using? sound to me it is an app issue and not network

make sure your mobile data or wifi is turned on.. Make sure data works

Nothing to do with PM as PM provides mobile service (calls/sms/data).

Look at issues with your 3rd part app.

it worked fine with my moto 5 G5 2022 but not with my moto 5 G5 2024.

you just need to install the correct app back

depends on what your friends use. Whatsapp is the best. Or you can use Microsoft Teams or Zoom
