Fraud phone call from my number.

Somebody called to tell me they received a fraudulent type recorded msg that came from my phone number. Coincidentally I've received 3 other phone calls today all from numbers starting in 250-888-xxxx, one of them left me the msg. What should I do?

not much you can do but explain to them that your number has been "spoofed" and to ignore any messages. Spoofing is wide-spread annoyance nowadays...you can change your number if you wish but chances are it'll continue. Just try to ride it out for now and hopefully those will subside.

added....never answer a call unless you recognize the calling number. If its legit, they'll leave you a message to call 'em back. Once the bad guys know you answer all calls...well..you know what happens.

I'm curious, is this a number you just got recently or one you've had for quite some time?

I've seen a few previous posts from people who experienced the same thing, so I'm wondering if spammers are abusing the Public system to get numbers or they got your number from some other source.

They just grab a random phone number to pretend to be calling from. Sometimes, the numbers aren't even really active.

Unfortunately this can happen to anyone on any carrier. I had a similar experience when I lived in the US and had a US carrier. Be reassured it will go away soon and be weary of calls from numbers similar to your own. Best of luck!

When they call from same prefix as me, it's always a spam call. Ignoring calls from the same prefix doesn't work if you have friends who have the same types of phone numberrs.
