Hey,

I live just outside Ottawa. I just switched over from Videotron since they only have LTE in this area. My wife is with Rogers and there is 5G here. I checked the coverage map and it says 5G, before switching over. I’ve been using 5G all over, so I know the phone works. I’ve even done a reset on my phone in case (iPhone 13 Pro Max). Please help. Thanks.

Just be aware that pm uses telus towers not rogers. Its possible that you have a weak signal from telus at your home and your wife may have a strong signal from rogers. So that may be why you are not getting 5g when she is.

That may explain your 5G connection difference. 5G is more affected by distance than 4G.

Also, try doing a speed test. If you are getting good speed, then you really have nothing to complain about.

On the other hand, if you are getting poor signal and poor speed, you can complain to public mobile (telus) and see if they eill consider installing a micro tower in your area to boost the signal.

Chances are that Telus will do nothing, but if you gripe enough, they might throw you a few service issue credits to make it go away. Good luck.

5G in Canada is mostly marketing hogwash to hoodwink consumers into paying more for enhanced LTE

Even though I am on the $29/20GB 5G CA-US-MX plan, my iPhone 15 Pro Max is almost always set to LTE because it works excellently on the BC Sunshine Coast — less battery drain looking for nonexistent 5G transmitters in my region

Thanks for getting back to me. I appreciate it. This is a tower issue. I have even worse signal on LTE than I did with Videotron. Since this is my primary line, I need better. It is unfortunate that PM advertised that they had 5G coverage in my area, such a waste of my time and money. I will be cancelling today.

Yes, I understand that. The issue is that I confirmed that 5G was supposed to be available at my house before purchasing the plan. So when I actually returned to this property and it doesn't work, but I get 5G elsewhere, it tells me that PM, or Telus, is misleading it's client base. Being mislead into paying for a service that isn't actually available at my address is unethical.

Are you joking? Is this supposed to be a serious reply? I already stated that I did a FULL reset. I also stated that I was getting 5G all over Ottawa, but not where I live. How is it no big deal to be paying for a service that is advertised as available at an address, but in actuality isn't? It's unethical. Moreso, my signal on LTE is worse that it was before. Actually read the **bleep** post before replying. At least the other community members tried offering helpful solutions. I will be cancelling today.

Then it is just a location specific issue. there are good and bad spots across the town, but 4G is as good as 5G. As long as the speed is ok on 4G, there is really no need to fight for getting 5G
