no cellular bars, 'E' in on top corner, 'EXT' in the other top corner

Today it appeared that I am unable to connect to cellular service. I have the letter 'E' in one top corner of my phone and 'EXT' in the other corner. What does this mean?

yes, look like there is a problem with your phone connecting to the network

Start with Rebooting your phone first, and try Reset network settings

and check the Telus outage map to see if your area have any reported outage

as far as i can tell, Salmon Arm in BC has some mobile service issue
