They will check by removing the SIM tray and see if the water indicator is red. If it is white then water didn’t seep inside the iPhone but if is red then water got into the iPhone. If it is white, wait until it is dried off and hope it will start again.

If water got inside the iPhone it will start to corrode inside and may also damage the motherboard. You may have to look for a new phone if water got inside.

My 2 year old attempted to flush my phone last night. I have an iPhone 11 which has had its screen replaced 3 times. The phone was in water for less than 20 seconds. It was turned off right Away and stayed off all evening and overnight. It was upright over some paper towel so it would catch any drips of water/moisture.
I turned the phone on this morning and it cannot Connect to the SIM card. The screen keeps flickering and there is a streak of discoloured light across the screen.

I have not charged it or plugged it into anything.
do I turn it back off? How do I get a new sim?

you should turn it off immediately

and you are using physical sim or esim? Sim won't be defective because of water, take it out , wipe it dry and you can test in another phone

if esim, you have to wait for it to be fully dry, turn on , buy a new esim from the app. But I think the esim is ok as long as your phone's board is dry. So, buy esim only if you want to have the service on another replacement phone

Once you have the new iphone, download the Public Mobile app, sign in to your account and buy an esim. You can get a hard sim from Amazon for around $5 with freed fast shipping if you have a prime acct.

@JenM86 If first take the SIM card out the phone and test it in another phone SIM card maybe fine . If not you can order one from Amazon or buy one from Telus / Koodo store . In the meantime maybe stick your phone in bag of rice for few days and try it again after that . Be best if you just need a new SIM card but you may need a new phone but by testing SIM card in another phone first will give you the answer if what needs replacing

As mentioned.
let it dry, don’t charge it, turn it off, pull the sim out and let it dry.
Keeping in mind that you mentioned 3 screen replacements…..=…… likely any water resistance has been jeopardized.
When you try to see if works …… let us know.

Something else to consider is that since the iPhone 11 is a 2019 phone the water resistance is likely compromised as it does gradually weaken over time. You may need a replacement phone.
