US roam talk, text & data

my family is heading down to oregon to visit my ailing bother and i will be buying a 15-day roaming package for my iphone. are there any instructions on how to activate it? will it automatically kick in when i cross the border? does the package cover long distance within the US? will i be able to make calls to my home in canada?

make sure you buy it right before you start the trip as the 15 days countdown start right after transaction is completed

when you are in US, you will still receive a text asking you to buy Roaming add-on, that is normal

to use the service in US, just turn on Roaming data on your phone. And make sure the phone connects to T-Mobile/AT&T/Verizon. You can change the network to 4G or LTE for easier connection. If one network does not work, manually connect to another one

the only other problem might be evident when you make a call using your cellphone. It must be VoLTE certified by Public Mobile otherwise calls in and out won't complete. Here's some info with a list of phones that are whitelisted ...although others have reported their VoLTE works even though not whitelisted.
