You will continue to pay $19 plus taxes every month. Once you have collected 15 points in total. You can redeem it for a $15 credit off your next bill.

On your 1 year anniversary, you will receive 10 points which can go to your 15 points collection.

I'm currently on the legacy cheapskate plan, recently costing me, I think, $16.95/month but with an anual $10 "gift" or something. Suits me fine, but the 250MB/month is not enough any more to leave mobile data on - the Google mothership sucks up most of it for background traffic. I'm in generall not much of a mobile data user but it would be nice to get, say, Whatsapp messages or switch to RCS messaging.

Occasionally we get SMS "upgrade" offers, and this one says 2GB/month for $19/month. That's actually tempting. What will it really cost? The nearest equivalent on the self-serve site is the $19/month plan with 1GB. That one says it gives $0.95/month in "public points" so that means $18.05 net, I assume, with no other way to get discounts.

Is that all there is to it, or is there still a $10/year points thing? The SMS offer doesn't give details.

I meant $16.95 after tax of course. Existing plan works out to, I think, $13.50 pre tax with the annual "gift" averaged in, so I'd be paying $4.55 more per month pre tax. Right?

if you get a sms target offer for $19 for 2GB , take it. the current regular price for $19 is only 1GB

and it will only cost you $19+tax for this deal. There is no catch to it, and the plan stays with you (no time limit). The only "time limit" is that you have to reply Yes to take it before the deadline of that offer. With the points, you will get 5% back of the $19, but you have to earn 15 points before you can redeem that for $15. And the annual 10 points will still be there

So it's a straight $4/month pre-tax upgrade. $15 before, $19 after, same points scheme. And with unlimited calling by the looks of it (existing unlimited incoming/100min outgoing was never an issue for me).
