Hey everyone

Wanted to post her to confirm before purchase. I'm thinking about buying a umidigi g100A as a bridge phone before I decide on something more pricey.

Can anyone confirm if it's usable on Public Mobile network? I know the 5G seems to be not available but wanted to make sure it will actually be ok for making calls and using data.

@MarkSquires , I have a much older Umidigi A13 pro and it works fine on this service. I would suggest buying from Amazon which has generous return policy if things don't work out.

Well @MarkSquires to be honest, you take a risk using a phone that's not on the VoLTE approved list. If it works, that's great! If it doesn't work, I guess it's all about trial and error.

To confirm if your phone will work with Public Mobile, please see this link. These are currently and mildly out of date lists of what can work.

Best way to confirm if any phone would work with PM service is to FIND such phone and stick SIM into it.

All other advises, 'it might work', 'it should work', etc. is still a risk that it might not work to your satisfaction.

The Umidigi G100A should work on Public Mobile for calls, texts, and 4G data, as long as it supports the right network bands. Here’s what you need to check:

Public Mobile (Telus Network) Key Bands:

3G (for calls): Band 2 (1900 MHz), Band 5 (850 MHz)
4G LTE (data & VoLTE): Bands 4, 5, 7, 12, 13, 17, 66
5G (not widely supported yet by Umidigi or Public Mobile)

What to Do:

Check the phone’s full specs (on Umidigi’s site or product page) and confirm it supports the above bands, especially LTE bands 4 and 66, and 3G band 5 — those are most critical for coverage and VoLTE.

Note: Some Umidigi phones don’t support VoLTE on Canadian carriers, which may cause call issues in the future as 3G networks shut down. For now, you should be fine for temporary use, but don’t expect 5G or top-tier performance.

your phone has both the 3G bands and some of the 4G bands needed on Public Mobile network and it should work

But it is not a phone on PM's VoLTE whitelist, so voice calls might not work well if it does not connect well on the 3G network

I appreciate all the help. As I mentioned in my original note, was looking for a cheap "bridge phone" until I can get some freedom and purchase something more useful - probably the Pixel 9a. I'm currently have a A52 and it's been terrible lately

It should work for now if your area of calling has both 3G bands 850 Mhz and 1900 Mhz. However, PM is slowly refarming the 3G 850 Mhz band to LTE and that has caused some customers in those affected areas to have talk issues with phone without VoLTE PM compatibility.

There have been issues with talk with the Public mobile network recently. Public mobile has been changing the 3G network (switching 3G 850 MHz band to LTE). Here is some additional information:
