Hi everyone,

I had bought this unlocked cellphone on ebay, and having used my Sony Xperia Z5 Compact with Public Mobile, with no issues, it was time to upgrade to something with a little more power, the Sony Xperia XZ2. However, after putting the SIM card into this new phone, that's when problems began to show. I had imported all the relevant data from my old phone into the new one, but for some reason I was unable to send text messages (it only worked if I had reset the phone, then when the phone powered back on, the message - most of the times - went through). I could receive messages, no problem. I had scoured the message boards here for a solution, and thought I had found one, but that didn't work either. I then did a search on the model number for this phone and had discovered that the H8296 model was released for the Asian market. So now I'm wondering whether this problem can be solved.

Here are the current APN settings for the Xperia XZ2 - H8296:

try uninstall Google Message (if there already) and then reboot and reinstall Google Message

Then Reset Network settings

go back and update the APN as follow (I think yours are correct):

APN: sp.mb.com
MMSC: http://aliasredirect.net/proxy/mb/mmsc
MMSC proxy: mmscproxy.mobility.ca
MMS port: 8799
MCC: 302
MNC: 220
APN Type: default,supl,mms

Adding to @Cypherzero comment. It looks like the global version of the Sony Xperia Z5 is compatible on 4G/LTE and 3G.

Hi,

For some reason, the messaging app cannot be deleted, so it appears that I am stuck with this. I did install the Google messaging app, but on reading the recent reviews, it appears to come with a myriad of problems that I am currently facing with this XZ2 phone. For the moment, the only way I can actually send a text message is to type it out twice (or simply copy the original message and paste it again) and then reset the phone. Once the phone has powered back on, the second message will go through.

I have tried using the settings that were listed up above, but it did not make any difference.

Could a physical impact have rendered a malfunction in its ability to transmit text messages (the phone is second hand, and does have a minor impact dent on one of the corners)? I am able to receive text messages with no problems, it's just that I can't send one.

Google Message is the best you can have. What exact problem you see people said with your particular phone model?

if you install Google Message, make sure it is set as default message app. And try with and without RCS enabled and see if it makes any difference
