Are you switching to or from Public?

If you're switching to Public, you would have to contact your previous carrier for it. It should be free.
If you're switching from Public, an agent could help you through a ticket or private message.

Edit: I may have misunderstood this.

thanks. I was with Bell and just finished activating my new Public mobile sim card. Everything was going well (got confirmation from Bell to keep my old phone # and that the switch was done). When I went to verify that my phone worked I got a screen a message on my phone asking me to enter the PIN to unlock the SIM network.

It's an old Samsung Galaxy, so old that I had to activate the sim card on my wife's phone because we couldn't download the Public mobile app, and then took the card and put it back in mine.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Thanks but I'm confused because the message I have on my phone is that I need a pin # to unlock the SIM network. So I thought that meant I need something from Public Mobile because I just received and activated my Public Mobile sim card.

Very confused and frustrated and appreciate any help you can provide to guide me.

You would just ask for your carrier to unlock the device for a new provider's SIM card.

You wrote that it's an old Samsung Galaxy. Phones purchased from a carrier (like Bell) since December 2017 must be sold unlocked, and older devices would be unlocked for free.

The network unlock would be from your previous carrier. Bell should still be able to unlock the device, or even online through MyBell.

@Gilbert12300 wrote:

thank you. Yes I believe it is a SIM card issue (from PM) since I get this message: "SIM network unlock pin code"

I haven't heard back from PM since yesterday (i sent a ticket) so not sure if I was at the right place..

This not an issue with the Public Mobile SIM card. This is an issue with your device. Your phone is locked to Bell. When contacting Bell, do not mention any terms such as PIN or PUK. That will only confuse Bell customer service as to what you're asking for an you'll likely end up with a Bell account PIN which isn't what you need. You'll want to advise Bell that you need to unlock your phone so that you can use it at a different carrier. Sometimes, they'll say things such as "your device is already unlocked" but don't accept that answered as the message that your phone is displaying is 100% confirmation that your phone is still locked to Bell.
