@Haraen

PM does not make it easy for subscribers to downgrade to a cheaper plan. Here are your options:

1. Port your PM number to another service provider and then port the number back into PM and select you new preferred plan.

2. If you do not mind changing your number, close your existing account and open a new account with a new phone number and your new plan.

3. Keep checking your Change Subscriptions on a regular basis and take advantage of any rare opportunity to downgrade to a cheaper plan even if it is not the one that you truly want, including a 4G plan. Every time you reduce your base price, it opens up further opportunities to change subscription to other better plans. Eventually, the desired $29 5G plan may become available to you.

For example, I was on a $29 4G 20 GB plan, which had more data than I needed. Initially I could not downgrade at all. Over the course of a year, I incrementally reduced my plan. Recently, I got the opportunity to change subscription to my current $20 4G 3GB plan.

After I changed on renewal, my current change subscription plans include the following: $19 4G 1GB, $23 4G 6GB, $25 4G 10 GB. Note that all of these change subscription plans for me now are superior to the new activation plans currently available to new subscribers. The $29 5G 20GB Can-US-Mex (but without the 100 international LD minutes) is also available in my change subscription.

Why can't I change my phone plan to something that's cheaper than what I have? I currently have a $34 subscription and I want to change to the same exact plan that is now priced at $29, but it won't let me.

You'll be better off writing off the accumulated rewards, if any, as sunk cost, and going with this $100/year Limited-Time plan (2 GB data/month, Unlimited calling) with Telus Prepaid. Switch after the year depending on who offers a worthy plan.

https://www.telus.com/en/mobility/prepaid/plans

Forever logging in and checking if there are cheaper plans made available, or pleading with support agents just affect the peace of mind, with no solution in sight.
