My son’s in Brazil and has a public mobile CAN/US subscription. Is there a way for him to continue using his phone while he’s there?

nope...his Public Mobile will only work while in Canada, US or Mx.

@mxw291 A workaround would be to download a voip app like TextNow or Fongo and use that to make calls on hotel or other wifi (or cellular data if he gets a data plan there).

We travel worldwide for work. Purchasing an add-on isn’t an option?

Does that mean Public Mobile won’t work anywhere else beside Canada/USA/MX?

Good point, @Phil_Adelphus . If son and you both downloads the free WhatsApp, you'll be able to talk /text for free with him using local wifi. It also works on data if he can buy a local data only plan for cheap.

That's correct. There are some Canadian carriers that don't even work outside Canada at all.

Public Mobile will only work in Canada but does have plans for use while in Mx and USA. Public Mobile plans won't work anywhere else.
