In the process of transfer from Fido to Public Mobile. After disabling Fido and putting in new Public Mobile I am getting a SIM Not Supported message showing on iPhone. Is that normal/expected? It is complaining that my phone is not unlocked.

Can you try any other SIM to see what message would you get?

It is possible that your phone is locked. WHEN did you get your phone and from whom? All Canadian phones have to be unlocked if bought from authorised dealer.

If phone is locked you have to go to previous provider and ask them to unlock it. It should be free.

@Wavo2791

Try a working sim from a friend or family to see it will work in your phone. If it does, that means that the phone is not locked and that there is a problem with the PM sim that was sent to you. Contact PM customer service to provide you with assistance and replacement of the defective Sim:

https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/notes/composepage/note-to-user-id/22437

If your phone is locked, you need your original vendor to unlock it. They are required to do so once your previous plan has expired. The alternative is to buy a unlock code online. I did this years ago. However I would be wary of doing so now and only as a last resort because a phone can get blacklisted.

The phone was from FIDO and is about 3 years old, it is a 12.
I am not sure if the message is part of the process of the transfer or if I need to call FIDO to get them to unlock or whether it is in fact unlock.

The message on the iPhone is:
The SIM that you currently have installed in this iPhone is from a carrier that is not supported under the activation policy that is currently assigned by .... <a big ugly string>

@Wavo2791 ouch, no its not part of the process for transferring. It should work automatically. But because it's locked, you'd need to contact the seller. Did you purchase in person in Canada? Did you get it from a friend? Since you only have it 3 years nowbit shouldn't be locked.

I would bring it to a Fido store to unlock for you. Depending on where you are, there are many Fido kiosks in malls. Good luck.

But you can try this link below and match your message.

https://urlshortner.tiia.ai/Oyn1L6
