I switched to public mobile for the canada us calling plan but now that i'm in the us my phone only works for text and data. I have a Samsung a12 phone.

@rboulanger To work for voice calls in the USA your phone needs to be enabled for VoLTE by Public Mobile. The whitelist of "certified" phones is here, the A12 is not on the list.

Data and texting will still work though. You could try connecting to T-Mobile's 2G network which still exists in some areas but other than that you could download a voip app like Fongo or TextNow to use over data and wifi.

does it help if you manually select AT&T or T-Mobile as service network, while in US ?

added...it doesn't look like your Samsung A12 has been VoLTE enabled by Public Mobile...they haven't enabled on many cellphones. You'll likely not have ability to talk while in US...text and data will be fine. If you have WhatsApp, you can keep in touch with other WhatsAp'ers using local wifi and your PM data.
