If I am in Mexico, and I call another Canadian in mexico (and that person has a canadian number), is that considered a mexico to mexico call, or a mexico to canada call? Thanks

while in Mx you can call most any Cdn, US and Mx number. To dial your friend who's also in Mx you must dial +1, area code, and number.

All you need to know is if you have a Can US and Mexico plan, it's free for you. That's all that matters. That and you enjoy several Cervesa's. 🙂

it is free calls, but many people have trouble calling.

Try all these ways to call Canadian and US number when you are in Mexico. (Some confirmed only one of these ways work for them, so really try them all)

+1 <area code> <7 digits>
001 <area code> <7 digits>
00+1 <area code> <7 digits> (key is to use a + in between the 00 , actual dial the plus sign, it does not mean concatenation)
00 1 <area code> <7 digits>

I've only had success calling Canada / US by dialing +1..area code...number. Calls won't complete for me using any other combination.

It's neither of those scenarios. It's considered a call to Canada while roaming in Mexico. That is different than a native Mexico number calling Canada.

@hTideGnow your first and third point are the same. They would work in countries where the exit code is 00.

Your second point is not correct however.

The best way is to use a plus sign. It becomes the exit code for every country and you don't need to worry about specific dialing codes.

Can you dial the USA while in Mexico?

In Canada you cal dial Canada + USA + Mexico + 7 other random countries as part of their promotion (UK, PH, IN, HK etc)

BUT in USA you can NOT dial international calls (and they do clearly state in terms about international calls needing to originate in Canada)

So what happens if you are in Mexico and dial USA? Or vice versa in USA and dial Mexico? Do those 2 work as an exception since built into plan or?

00+1<area code><7 digit number>. You have to actually dial the plus sign, it does not mean concatenation. Strangely enough, I can connect with a public mobile subscriber who is not in Mexico and is back in Canada by calling 001<area code><7 digit number> (no +) but once they are in Mexico I have to add the + back in (00+1<area code><7 digit number>)

yes, you can call US while in Mexico, and call Mexico while in US

in short, you can call all 3 countries with this plan when you are in one of the 3 countries

Confirmed that this works for me @hairbag1 , and LD calls to the 7 other countries can only be made when you are in Canada. 5G / LTE around Oahu was excellent, same with Seattle and Michigan.

since all calls and data are routed back to Telus server in Canada, you should be able to make LD call

did you try calling + (country code) (area code and phone number) ??

and for some counties, like UK, you need to drop the 0 in the front of the area code.

Hi @hTideGnow , yes I tried this "+ (country code) (area code and phone number)" and tried it on 3 other countries and none worked. Used the same numbers when I got back in Canada and the calls were completed as dialed"+ (country code) (area code and phone number)". It wasn't really a must/needed to call, it was more of a plan capability testing experience for me (just so I know the limitations of the plan)...overall, the plan is still great and so far am very happy with Public mobile.
